Nina Bellucci Butler recently completed her Masters of Environmental Management degree at Duke University but
has been working in the recycling field since 2000. Nina's masters project resulted in the development of a
decision-making tool used to analyze the trade-offs in switching from conventional plastics to bio-based
plastics.
Nina has been published in Resource Recycling and has presented numerous papers and workshops throughout the
country. She also produced Point of Return, a film that illustrates what happens to recyclables after they
leave the curb. She is a current member, and former Vice President, of the Northern California Recycling
Association, a member of the National Recycling Coalition, California Resource Recovery Association, and
Carolina Recycling Association.
Nina finally settled in Chapel Hill, NC with Zeus, the infamous manx, some chickens, her husband, and the
most adorable baby in the world, Siena Sadie Butler. Rather than backpacking trips around the world Nina is
content with weekly outings to the local farmers' market these days.
